GOD CHANGES OUR PLANS

     First up, a very blessed Lunar New Year to all readers of Our Animated Journey. And thank you for your patience. We have good reason for this delayed update which you will read about very quickly. But I just wanted to say before that, thank you so much for all your love and prayers! We have been receiving your gifts, emails and texts of encouragement, and it fuels us on in this journey. Thank you!



     
     
     As the title post reveals, God has decided to change our plans quite significantly this year. Initially, I (Amy) was meant to finish my Theological studies in 2019 and begin part-time work (secular) whilst volunteering in the church Missions department thereafter.

However, our gracious Father has decided to give Jonathan and I another child!

     We are very grateful that Mya will finally have a sibling. One that she has longed for since she started talking really. We are also grateful that the first trimester is now behind us. I was plagued with mysterious fevers, rashes and morning sickness all throughout that time whilst having to start school full-time. Sitting through three hour-long lectures while battling nausea was not fun at all. But in all that, God has been so faithful, and things have gotten a lot better.

That being said, there is much we would like to ask you for prayer in these upcoming months –

Mya

1. Mental preparation to become an older sister and excitement to receive a younger sibling
2. Continual enjoyment for reading and learning in school despite longer hours
3. Adjustment to BSF (Bible Study Fellowship) as it begins on Monday (26th Feb)

Amy

1. Wisdom to manage the finances and logistical preparation of having another child
2. Physical well-being to be able to complete term two or semester one in May
3. Extra strength and energy to continue ministry commitments outside of school and home

Jonathan

1. Love for the family in midst of busyness of ministry and studies
2. Physical and mental strength in this period
3. Continue to enjoy the equipping and training 
4. Discipline to exercise

A NATE UPDATE

Nathan will be going for open-heart surgery on the 14 th  of August to close the hole in his heart. The hole (VSD) has begun to show signs of leakage and the valve above the hole is starting to deform as a result of the pressure caused by the leak. Should the leak worsen, he will have to undergo two surgeries rather than one. As such, J and I have decided to go ahead with their current suggestion to patch the hole. -- What are your thoughts? Certainly, it is a major surgery and we will take care to prepare Nate (and ourselves) for it. But other than that, we are not too anxious. In contrast, we are grateful for the clarity and confidence the surgeon gave us yesterday. More importantly, we know full well that He is sovereign and in control. This entire heart journey is out of our hands and Nate, like every one of us, is at the mercy of our Creator. We do not think Nate’s condition is worse than any other child or better for that matter. JULY FLY BY

Celebrating my birthday during the lockdown Finally taking time to pen down some thoughts before the onslaught of celebrations ensue. Mya's prayer during the lockdown On the 20 th , Jonathan and I will celebrate seven years of marriage. We recently laughed at how it will take many more years of marriage to outnumber the years we were friends prior (16years). He also turns 30-something on the 25 th of July, having celebrated his graduation with a Masters of Divinity over Zoom he is now serving his beloved youth in a full-time capacity. Nathan turns two on 27 th July. Two evident years of the Lord’s goodness upon us. He is speaking more and more these days although it takes an interpreter (Mya) at times to understand what he is actually saying. He maintains his off the charts size and has begun to show a distinct love for music, dancing even in the middle of throwing a tantrum once music plays.
